Our DIY chicken projects gallery
This was the start of our DIY chicken coop. We bought a playhouse on the marketplace for very cheap
We needed a sturdy, weatherproof coop, so we started with a roof.
In addition to weather proofing, we made sure that there was plenty of ventilation, and that the coop was predator proof. We added a shed window, and installed hardware cloth on all other windows.
We live in a very rocky area, where we cannot dig deep so lay the skirt around the chicken run. We had extra rock from a build we had on the property, so we laid the rock on the hardware cloth surrounding the run. This has been great keeping predators out of the run.
Our girls free range when we are home only due to predators on our property. They are in the run when we are not home.
